We are glad you are here.
Join us as we help our community become a better place for everybody
by going eco-friendly.
There is beauty in going plastic-free.
Eco-Friendly Options (EFO) originated from the beautiful island of Pohnpei Micronesia. It all started with an advocacy to reduce single-use plastic and styrofoam in the island as Pohnpei has only one landfill. Founded by Michelle Kamber and co-founded by Annette Shoniber in 2019, EFO is a pioneer in the FSM in selling eco-friendly food containers made of sugarcane pulp and plastic-free bath tissue made of natural bamboo.
Mentored by America’s Small Business Development Centre (SBDC), EFO took off in 2020 together with the FSM Law banning the importation of single-use plastic and styrofoam.
EFO partnered up with Pohnpei NGO called KOHWA (Koupweliki Oh Wauneki Atail-sohso) to support their environmental and community projects.
Today, EFO is already on Guam carrying the same advocacy and the goal of offering eco-friendly alternatives to lessen the plastic waste in the island. Moreover, EFO Guam aims to help fellow small business owners to recover from the losses due to the pandemic by introducing affordable and effective eco-friendly cleaning products for everyday sanitation needs.
We are all a work in progress and we can only achieve the sustainability development goals if the community will cooperate. EFO will continue to find ways to be able to provide eco-friendly alternatives in the Pacific islands with the hope of growing support from the consumers.
Reduce. Reuse. Refuse. REFILL NOT LANDFILL. Shop sustainably, choose eco-friendly. (Photo credits: Annette Shoniber, Vince Cabañez and KOHWA)
